Courses & Careers
Introduction
Do you know what a prospectus is? It is a big book, a bit like a menu or catalogue, which lists all the different courses you can study at a university. Remember, a course is the subject that you study at university and most courses will be for 1 subject only. Courses at the University of Liverpool are split into 3 faculties (these are a bit like departments in your school):
- Health and Life Sciences
- Science and Engineering
- Humanities and Social Sciences
The prospectus lists important information about each course like:
- How long the course is
- How students learn (lectures, seminars, group work, or labs)
- The subjects and grades students need to get onto the course
- What careers the course can lead to
The prospectus also lists lots of important information like where you can live, whether you can study abroad on a certain course (most can!) and the support available to you at university. If you decide to go to university, you will need to look at a prospectus to help you decide which university to go to and which course to study. There are 100s to choose from at the University of Liverpool!
Take a look at some of the courses in this section to find out more about what it’s like to study at university!
